Engraving Process
Engraving – Etching – Cutting
Laser engraving is similar to laser cutting. Laser cutting is a subtractive manufacturing technology that uses a high-power laser beam to cut flat-sheet materials. A computer directs this laser to follow the cutting line in your digital design. The high-precision laser vaporizes a cut line through the material, leaving a 90-degree high-quality cut-edge finish. Laser cutting can be done in most plastics, acrylic and wood, up to 3/4″ thickness.
Laser engraving is similar, but instead of using the laser beam to cut through the material sheet, it engraves the material surface. Following the engraving line or area in a digital design, the laser vaporizes a thin layer of the material surface, exposing what lies beneath and leaving a burn mark that varies in intensity from slight with acrylic to more pronounced on more combustible materials like wood. We can engrave into metals, acrylic, plastic, wood, ceramic, granite, marble, glass and more. Call or stop by today to check out the options available. We can also engrave in most materials that are supplied by you!
